The struggle on the mobile market (between Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Samsung) directly influences trends in mobile development. It's not that easy to create something new, but it can be much more timely to underline something existing. Let's make an obvious example, when Apple showed us the 'flatness' of iOS 7, which had been previously the distinctive feature of Live Tiles of Windows Phone. Here are some of the trends that we expect will move on to 2014, which must be the year of their flourishing.

Wearable Tech To Go Mainstream
Maybe it's a very bold statement but smartwatches for kids we believe that wearable gadgets will get significantly smarter and better next year. It's early days yet to say there currently is a gadget that has powers to go mainstream. Google has set a mission of making its Project Glass suitable for mass market, but still it's not. Samsung Galaxy Gear isn't the first attempt at making a smartwatch, but it's so far the most widely discussed one. Although the attempt itself is worthy of respect, the product has too many flaws to get a foothold on the market. Meanwhile Apple is biding its time, and we don't know when we are going to see the first signs of the coming long-rumored iWatch. Whatever the situation with the wearable tech is, the next year is expected to bring substantial evolution of such technology. If wearable tech becomes more or less independent from smartphones, it's going to require specialized software for various industries, which will also push the bounds of mobile development.
